The importance of having a back-up trading account should problems occur with Betfair - maintenance issues, site freezing
.....or as in the folllowing case when Betfair decides to suspend the market because their live feed is too slow thus enabling people live at the game to profit unfairly
I was trying to build some prematch green on the 0-0 in Belgium v Finland so I could LTD with liability to match my green on 0-0 (dangerous I know as doesn't cover a first goal from dog!).
See below - managed to get myself in a nice position but as the game kicked off - I had a back bet in for £35.23 on the 0-0 which hadn't been laid off - the order was in though and I was right at the front of the queue at 11.5After KO - market didn't go inplay so was left with 35.23 red on all scores and nice big green on 0-0. Spoke to @betfairfootball on twitter who told me that they were not bringing market in-play as the feed was delayed and people at the game could profit.
When I posted in chat, Lamb sent me a private message suggested Betdaq. I already had an account which was funded but £20 short of the maximum I needed to fully lay off the £35.23 I had on the 0-0!!! So - for the sake of your article - I was eventually able to lay 0-0 on Betdaq for £35.23 to cover my red on Betfair.
However - in reality - I couldn't top up my BetDaq account as my old debit card was registed and I couldnt figure out how to register the new one! Pop ups were also causing problems as I rarely use Betdaq. When I eventually did have funds I layed the score at the top of the screen - which was 1-0 and not 0-0 like Betfair!! When I realised I immediately backed to leave a small loss on 1-0 scoreline and scratch on everything else. Then betfair market came back so as it was still 0-0, I layed £53.25 @ 8.8 to give me a hedged £18.02 across all scores. I then hedged my Betdaq 1-0 red to £5.70 on all scores.
Let's not mention the original LTD £50 order I had in @ 4 which was promptly matched when the betfair market came back in play!! Promptly backed £57.20 at 3,5 to give me red on match odds too. Didn't have the patience at this point to leave the LTD trade running and decided it was best to take the small red given the overall green on other markets!!!!
Hope that helps....lesson for me is certainly to have a funded Betdaq account with my current card registered at all times - and remember the CS scores are in a different order!!!!!!!
